The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority at Jeddah Islamic Port successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 46.8 kilograms of cocaine, which was discovered hidden within a shipment arriving in the Kingdom.
According to the Authority, the incoming shipment was declared as frozen chicken, and during routine customs procedures—including inspection using advanced security technologies and detection dogs—the illicit substance was found concealed inside the shipment’s refrigeration unit.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to tightening customs control over all imports and exports across the Kingdom, emphasizing its firm stance against smugglers in line with one of its key strategic pillars: protecting society and national security by combating smuggling attempts.
ZATCA urged the public to contribute to the fight against smuggling to safeguard both society and the national economy. It encouraged individuals to report suspicious activities through the dedicated security hotline (1910), via email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or through the international number (+9661910). All reports are handled with full confidentiality, and financial rewards are granted to informants whose reports lead to confirmed violations.
